What Causes Leg Cramps And Nausea With The History Of UTI And Heat Stroke?

Our Doctor said that my husband had either heat stroke or heat exhaustion and a UTI she gave him antibiotics and told him to rest for several days and drink plenty of Gatorade or water. It has been a week or more and he is still having fatigue, leg cramps, sweating and nausea and chills when he comes in from outdoors. Is there something else wrong? How long does it take to get over Heat Exhaustion?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

It is not really the exhaustion that is causing this, it is in fact the UTI. You need to ask your husband of his frequent urination has reduced and returned to normal since the initiation of the antibiotics. If not then he will require a revisit to his doctor and a revision in his treatment regimen most probably warranting a change in his antibiotic.

In the meantime, make sure he drinks plenty of water and Gatorade, which is the only thing that can help reduce or did him of his cramps, exhaustion, etc. Getting an ultrasound KUB will also be wise

Best wishes
