What Causes Leg Cramps In A Person Suffering With PAD?
I have PAD in right leg..artery calcified... Cannot walk for any distance without leg cramps. For past year I get very lighted headed and start to feel faint within 10 minutes of Walking around. Have just started Lipitor...and one day of compression stockings, which created a burning sensation in legs,,as well as mild muscle spasm. Should I be wearing compression stockings...these were advised to he!p with the near fainting upon walking. I am 67. Retired last year.z

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hi,
You are suffering from peripheral vascular disease and leg pains or cramps are part of this disease. You need pressure stockings if you are having deep vein thrombosis. Anyway these stockings must not be too tight to admit a finger beneath them.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
