What Causes Leg Cramps While On Crestor And Lipitor?
I am taking 1000 mg niacin and red rice . Chart is now within normal limits - including subfractions Had problem with statins - severe Should I go thru the other statins one by one until I find one> Tried: Livalo, Crestor and Lipitor - caused leg cramps and feeling of being sick. You say? Paul Savad
The use of statins is known to be associated with the side effects you are facing now: leg cramps, feeling of being sick, etc.
In such cases, as you have tried to change statins, they are still persisting, then, we ask the patients to stop using statins. Furthermore, the use of niacin and red yeast rice is helping alot in stabilizing your cholesterol numbers. Thus, it should be ok to stop statins.
To reduce the side effects, I usually prescribe Ubiquinol Qu10 to my patients which has been shown effective. I wish it will be the same effective for you.
All the best.
