What Causes Leg Cramps While On Levothyroxine And Amlodipine?
I take 2.5 mg. of amlodipine for BP and also take levothyroxine and a multi vitamin, magnesium, fish oil. I am having bad leg cramps at night, and hip pain for extended walking. I am 5foot 2 - and wish 130 and am 79 yrs. of age. Any thoughts on these meds. and supplements. Thank you.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Muscular weakness due to aging is more likely cause for your leg cramps. Amlodipine, levothyroxin, multivitamin drugs can not cause leg cramps. In my opinion, you should also start calcium and vitamin d 3 loading dose as deficiency of these can cause leg cramps. Also get done serum sodium and potassium levels as Hyponatremia (low sodium) and hypokalemia (low potassium) can also cause similar symptoms. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
