Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 50 years old and overall am in very good health. I have suddenly been having severe leg cramps that are waking me up at night and my hair (which has always been strong, shiny and healthy) is so dry and brittle. I do have hypothyroidism and have this checked regularly and I am on 137 mg of Synthroid. When it was checked in December it was normal. I exercise and am of normal weight.

What Causes Leg Cramps While Sleeping?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Try checking your blood calcium levels because leg cramps can also be caused by decreased calcium levels. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
