Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Leg Edema With Mild Tenderness On Shin?
I have left leg edema below my knee and mild tenderness mid shin. There is no rash. I have a history of varicous veins. Dull achy pain rated 4 out of 10. Been using Ibuprofen not sure helping much. This all started this past wednesday after walking 2 miles for exercise.
Since you have history of Varicose veins, you are suggested not to do strenuous walking or to stay standing for a longer time (venous insufficiency). It may cause swelling, pain & discomfort. Cut on the amount of salt intake to prevent water retention in your body. Other conditions that can cause similar symptoms are, pregnancy, anemia, cellulitis, congestive heart failure or side effects of medications that you are taking & have not mentioned here. You are suggested to get clinically examined, get required tests (Blood & Imaging) done & treated at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
