What Causes Leg Numbness While Treating Diabetes And High Cholesterol?

My husband was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. Apparently had for several years. On mediformin for diabetes, took statin for several months until recently. Started having numbness or no strength in left leg . Fell a few times.... no injury but stilll concern. Doctor took him off the statin( about 3 weeks now), but I havent seen improvement.

Hi,

I got your chief complaint, this is due to diabetic neuropathy as your husband is suffering from diabetes mellitus. Loss of sensations, numbness in limbs and other organs are often seen in diabetic patients.

Your husband needs to repeat blood and urine tests to find the status of blood sugar and urine levels whether diabetes is controlled or not.

You don't worry take him to a nearby hospital for examination and tests so that accordingly he can be treated properly. He may need vitamin supplementation as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Soheel Hussain Zargar,
