What Causes Leg Pain And Cramps After Catheter Ablation Procedure?

On 12/28/16 I had my 4th cathether abalation and it was a success. As part of the post op treatment my doc prescribed Ticosyn. I have since developed leg pain and cramping. Cramping also in feet anytime I stretch or flex them. Also have hotflash type sensations in my legs that come and go. Can this be caused from the Ticosyn.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Ticosyn is an anti-arrhythmic agent and is not the cause of your leg pain and cramping you are feeling. There are 2 explanations for that:

1. Arrhythmia is associated with irregular heart beats and a poor circulation in periphery. The byproducts of cells metabolism are not getting cleared adequately due to this poor circulation.

2. Another explanation is electrolyte imbalance, especially when it comes to Mg and calcium.

I advise getting your blood electrolytes checked.

Discuss with your caring doctor to start therapy with Magnesium+Calcium+Zinc+Vit.D3 supplementation to help well functioning of your muscles, nerves and bones.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
