What Causes Leg Pain And Dry Scalp After Discontinuing Thyroid Medication?

stopped taking my thyroid medication few months ago. Since I have been experiencing leg pain, joint pain and tingling in my hands along with an extremely dry scalp. I have started taking medication again as of two days ago and have apportionment scheduled with my primary physician. I am concerned perhaps it may be something more.

Hi,

These symptoms may be caused by your thyroid problem and I don't think its serious.

Low thyroid may cause all these problems. It's necessary to get your TSH Done and take medicines accordingly. Please do not stop or take medicines without your doctor prescription.

I would also suggest taking some multivitamins and vitamin D supplements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
