My mother is 83 years old, overweight, and has had a swollen left leg for over 20 years now. She takes a water pill every morning. She also had knee replacement surgery about 5 years ago. The swelling seemed to get a bit worse after that. Orthopaedic surgeon and family doctor don t seem to be too concerned with the leg swelling. Last night, she gouged her leg with her finger nail by accident as she was pulling up her sock. It bled for a bit and then just started oozing clear fluid. I ve been appied polysporin and a gauze bandage for the past 24 hours. The clear fluid continues to weep from the wound. Is this anything to be concerned about?
