Hi,

I can understand your concern regarding your daughter's illness. Treatment of depression involves using anti-depressants regularly. You have mentioned that she was on medication on and off. That might be one factor which is causing prolongation of depressive episode.

She is currently on Uvox (fluvoxamine) 200 mg/day. If she is responding to the medicine, I would suggest that the dose of fluvoxamine can be increased to 300 mg/ day gradually (maximum recommended dose). In case she is not responding at all currently or her condition doesn't improve further after increasing the dose of fluvoxamine, change in anti-depressant is warranted. I would have recommended venlafaxine as a choice. You can discuss regarding the same with your psychiatrist.

In addition, option of cognitive behavior therapy could be considered where regular sessions would be needed which will focus on relaxation and changing thinking pattern.

Hope this information was helpful. Best wishes.
