What Causes Lethargy While On Azithromycin And Benzonatate?
My 93 yr old aunt was prescribed azithromycin for a cough. She seemed a bit confused throughout the day after taking her 1st 2 pills this morning. The other medication prescribed was benzonatate. Is it more likely the benzonatate which caused the lethargy and confusion?
As per your query you have lethargy and confusion after taking medicines Azithromycin and Benzonatate . Well there can be many reasons for lethargy and confusion like tiredness , low glucose or iron level , side effect of some medicine and dehydration . But in your case it seems yo me that the lethargy and confusion occur due to benzonatate ( as you also mention in query ) I would suggest you to stop taking this medicine , drink plenty of water , take anti histamine like bandryl and consult doctor who prescribed you benzonatate . Doctor may change the dosage or prescribe some substitute . Doctor may also refer you to the specialist like ENT specialist or neurologist .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
