What Causes Light And Short Periods Post Withdrawal From Birth Control Pills?

Hi there, i am 26 yrs old. I stopped the birth contol pill about a year ago , i was on it for 10 years almost. My cycle took a few months to get back to normal , but i have been mensturating every month regularily give or take a few days. Now in July, i was supposed to get my period on the 27th, but i ended up getting it very light and not long (not like my usual) on the 14th. And i never got anything on the 27th. I noticed last thursday that my breasts have become tender, and when they were squeezed a miky/clear like liquid came from them. I also had left sided pelvic pain during intercourse the last couple times. I did a preg test in the morning and it was negative. I am concerned. Should i recheck a preg test or a make a docs appt?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the milky discharge from both side of breasts with low level menstrual bleeding indicates possible alteration in the hypothalamus pituitary axis via release of prolactin hormone. There is no need of repeat check of urinary pregnancy test for this particular instance. I would like you to approach your OBGYN for necessary lab tests of hormone levels and manage accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
