What Causes Light Bleeding And Pus On The Stitches In Finger?

Hi, I had stitches 5 stitches in my finger 7 days ago, and I am supposed to get them out on Monday. Yesterday and today, they have been bleeding, but very, very small amounts. Tonight, when I changed the bandage, I noticed a small amount of pus from the side...a very, very small drop. There is no redness or additional swelling. There is a lot of pain, itching and general discomfort, but nothing that I haven t experienced for the past week with it. I am just worried that it could possibly be infected.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Oozing out of blood and pus from a wound suggests presence of infection.
You need to consult your surgeon as soon as possible.
The stitches need to be removed and any pus collection needs to be drained out.
Antibiotic cover has to be started to control the infection.
Infection slows down the process of healing so stitches may be required to be replaced after infection is controlled.

Thanks and take care
