Hi,
Welcome to HCM
I've gone through your query and I understand quite well your concern.
Gonorrhes is a highly contagious sexually transmitted
STD bacterial infection.
Gonorrhea is characterized by thick discharge from the penis or vagina. In addition to male reproductive organs & female genital tract, gonorrhea may infect the
rectum, throat, eyes, blood, skin, & joints.
Based on what you referred to me, It's important for you to know:
1. First I want to tell you that in order to avoid the re-infection, your boyfriend should have been treated too!! It's very important for your sexual partner to get know to the situation and to be treated too, so that you can avoid the re-infection.(you didn't mentioned it to me)
2. Second : I don't know if you are re-checked after you have completed your treatment against Gonorrhea( but as I understand from what you've asked me, you are not sure if you were completely recovered from Gonorrhea.)
3. Third:It’s important not to have unprotected vaginal, oral or anal sex until treatment is completed & the infection has cleared up.
4. Once it has been successfully treated, it won’t come back unless a new infection is picked up.( I'm not sure if you got another sexual transmitted disease from your new partner, unless you've used condoms or maybe, it's the chance that you've infected him too.)
So, in your case I advise you:
1. First to get to know your boyfriend of the situation. He should be screened in order to know if he is infected with gonorrhea too, in order to get a treatment.
2.Second , please contact to your gynaecologist too because you should get tested too in order to define which is the cause of these discharges ( I strongly doubt that you are infected with a
bacterial vaginosis based on your grey, thick, fishy odour discharge)
3. Please, depending upon your sexual behaviour or your partner's sexual behaviour, you should use protection and make sure to get tested!!
Wish you good health,
Dr. Ermira Biu
