What Causes Light Menstrual Bleeding With Short Duration?

Hi, 1 week exactly before my period was due I was bleeding ever so lightly, I didn t need to use a pad, but when I did it wasn t bleeding enough to fill up the bad.. I got cramping but it was as bad as my period cramps.. the light bleeding went on for 3-4 days on the 5th & 6th day it was discharge with a bit of red on it and I notice something that looked like implantation bleeding.. the last time I went toilet on this day it was browny discharge.. I am now 1 & a half week late and I done 2pregnancy tests the first one came up 2 lines.. 1 was faint?! and the second one only 1 line? What could this be..

Hello,

As home pregnancy tests are inconclusive, I would recommend to wait and watch till next cycle as the period between 21 and 40 days is considered normal. If you are anxious, you can go to a gynecologist and have the blood test done for confirmation. You can wait for 2 more weeks and then have a home pregnancy test again. It's your choice.

A few causes of scanty menstruation other than pregnancy could be PCOD polycystic ovarian disease, anemia, hyperthyroidism, prolactinoma, or pituitary tumors.
