Hi,

Severe headache can happen with migraine and can last from few hours to 3 days. Light sensitivity, the nausea and dizziness are also common with migraine headaches. All this is not worrisome if this is not the first time you feel so.

If this is something you experience for the first time (this severe headache) then it is good to see your doctor soon. If you have had similar episodes previously then it is a usual migraine episode and there is no need to rush to ER.

It is important though to have the visit with your doctor when possible to discuss treatment of acute attacks and if there is a need for preventive treatment (daily drugs to reduce frequency and intensity of migraine headaches).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Antoneta Zotaj,
