Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello,I just need help please! I have a 28-29 day cycle and I ve been able to track it since I stopped BC almost a year ago in May 2014. My first day is usually heavy and last about 3-4 days. This month my first day was light spotting and my second day (today) the same. I am not sure what this means. My boyfriend and I had intercourse during my fertility window (according to my period tracker app) But what does this change mean?
Light spotting during periods is common. You don't need to worry as light spotting can sometimes occur during the periods without any specific cause.
Anyhow the following are few causes of light bleeding during periods: 1) Anemia or less hb% 2) PCOD 3) Usage of birth control pills 4) Pregnancy 5) Hyperthyroidism 6) Rapid weight loss or gain 7) Obesity
My suggestion is to go for a urine pregnancy kit test and after ruling out pregnancy, you can wait till next period. If the next period is also scanty, then you may meet a gynecologist for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
