Hi, recently I was out drinking 2 nights ago and I noticed that I had some light vaginal bleeding. It s not my period, as I have an Implanon rod that i had insterted a year ago. I was wondering why this is? I don t take any medication other than panadol for headaches occasionally

Hello,

The vaginal spotting can occur sometime when the mentioned contraceptive rod inserted. You can wait for next few days to check whether spotting stops or not. If vaginal spot continues than pelvic examination needed to exclude any polyp, fibroid like lesion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
