What Causes Light Vaginal Bleeding After Having Intercourse?
Yesterday my boyfriend and I were having intercourse and he saw blood and panicked. The discharge is brown and sometimes light red. All together very light. It doesn t show up unless I wipe and sometimes it doesn t show then. I m 5 days late on my period. I tested 3 days ago and it came up negative. I don t know if he could ve ripped anything or what. If this is my period, I ve never been this light before. I ve always been real heavy.
Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. I understand your concern. The bleeding what you are experiencing during intercourse could be due to following reasons: 1. Light periods, since you are due for periods. 2. Implantation bleeding. 3. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like Chlamydia or Fungal infections causing Vaginitis 4. Mechanical injuries during the act. 5. Cervicitis - inflammation of cervix. You can repeat urine pregnancy test again after a week in case periods doesn't happen. Kindly consult Gynecologist if there is delay in periods for proper evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
