What Causes Lightheadedness And Fluttering In The Chest?
Hello Dr. Rhyne. I have been experiencing a flutter in the center of my chest for the past year there is no pain but on occasion i do feel lightheaded along with it.I am a 58 year old male who otherwise is in excellent health. Am i experiencing heart palpitations and if so should i be concerned.Thanks...Kevin...Prince Edward Island ...Canada
Hi welcome to HCM. Palpitations in your case need serious assessment in the form of baseline ecg and 24 hour holter ecg. This can accurately qualify the nature of the ectopic beats. Most of these cases are benign and do not need any treatment.I advise you to have a baseline screening 2 dimensional echo to rule out the organic heart disease.Reduce the intake of coffee and alcohol.Drugs like beta blockers will help to reduce the palpitations.Consult your cardiologist for further care. Thank you.
