Is Dizziness During Nonproductive Cough A Cause For Concern?
I have a non-productive cough that causes severe lightheadedness every time I cough. I have lost my voice as well but I have no other symptoms. No pain in my throat or chest. Really concerned because the lightheadedness makes me feel a though I am going to pass out.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dizziness during nonproductive cough which is due to upper respiratory track infection leading to bronchitis/ granular pharyngitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications. Infection sometimes spread from upper respiratory track to ear through Eustachian tube and cause ear infection , there can be other reasons also for dizziness like meniere's disease . You should do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day. Avoid use of sharp and spicy food substances. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Your symptoms will resolve in 1 week. if symptoms keeps on persisting you should consult ENT specialist and take proper treatment. You should get X-ray chest done along with pulmonary function tests. Doctor may prescribe antiemetic , antibiotics at least for 5 days along with decongestant .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
