What Causes Lightheadedness, Headache And Periods Of Confusion?

Sister is 58 years old. Overweight. Has been experiencing bouts of lightheadedness / dizziness. Ground moving (when it isn t), sharp pain headaches, periods of confusion. She had MRI (it was ok), Heart Sonogram (some anomalies), EKG (mostly ok), still experiencing symptoms every other day or so. She wore a heart moniter for 3 days, saw some weird things. She works for foreign service in Turkey, but also dealing with cardiologist from state dept. What could be going on with her? She told me not to worry, but I am.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Lightheadedness can occur due to vertigo or inner ear problems which may not be visible in MRI.Any cervical spondylosis should also be ruled out. Lipid profile should also be tested. In case of cardiac dysfunction, cardiac protectants like aspirin and statins may be required for prophylaxis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
