What Causes Limited Range Of Motion In Left Shoulder?

My left shoulder does not have full range of motion. I can lift extended arm level with shoulder joint about 45 degrees before I feel a muscle strain. From same position moving arm back creates more pain. When I reach backward with arm below shoulder level the pain is greater. I am limited in lifting/carrying items like luggage, groceries, school bag, etc.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
You need to get this evaluated with an MRI of the shoulder to look for any rotator cuff tendon tears or what's called impingement syndrome were a tendon is caught on a bone spur. You then can benefit from physical therapy or, if necessary, arthroscopic surgery. You need to get this done as soon as possible since, if you continue not to move your shoulder through the entire normal range of motion, you may end up with a frozen shoulder
