What Causes Liquid Drainage At The Surgical Scar Post Hysterectomy?

Had a hysterectomy march 27th. Getting the rest of my staples out tomorrow. I have intense discomfort and drainage ( clear with a tinge of blood) since Sunday at the incision site. Trying to keep it dry and clean. It s red and puffy. Should I put anything on it. Ice pack, heat?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain liquid drainage at the site of surgical scar along with blood and discomfort are appearing to be signs of infection at the incision area..

You should consult your treating surgeon and get evaluated and in case of infection he can advise you oral antibiotics along with injections of antibiotics and steroids, along with anti=inflammatory medicines like Aleve or Motrin..
Clean the area with antiseptic solution and apply antibiotic and steroid ointment over it.
Keep the are dry and clean and do not let moisture accumulation or
water exposure to the area..
You should put ice packs over it

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
