What Causes Long Hair Attached To A Mole On Jawline?
I have a mole on my jawline, yesterday I noticed there was a long hair growing out of it and a few others. So I got an electroc razor that is used for shaving peach fuzz, hair on the nose, it is pretty much a childs razor like safety scissors but a razor. I shaved it off and then I thought there were some more hair later so I shaved it again. The nect day I noticed that there was a scab and that it must have come off when I shaved it. I m really scared that I did something very very wrong. It doesn t hurt when I push down on it, even when I push as hard as I can it doesn t hurt. It is still round and a normal non disfigured shape and i m pretty sure it s only darker than it used to be because it used to be faded because I had had it so long I guess but since a scab is forming still it is still kind of dark and red. Please can you give me some reccomendations or tell me if I have skin cancer or if this will make the mole bigger or worse. Also i m a 15 year old male if that helps with anything.
As per your query you long hair attached to mole is a situation you need not to worry about because moles are formed by a type of cell found in the skin, known as melanocytes. These pigment-producing cells give our skin its color, and when groups of melanocytes cluster together in large numbers, they produce a small darker area which is common mole.
If a hair follicle traps in the midst of the clustered melanocytes, the mole will appear to grow hair, which can be black or other colors. The hair is actually coming from the follicle and are not produced by the mole itself. so need not to panic about anything.
I would suggest you to keep a check on its growth, symmetry , color changes and margins and if there is any change in that visit dermatologist once and get it examined properly to rule out any malignancy.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
