What Causes Long Vaginal Bleeding During Menstruation And Post Intercourse?

I am 51 years old. My periods are lasting 3 to 4 weeks sometimes with a week off then starting again. I used to only have them for a max of 5 days. Intercourse also seems to cause bleeding. The bleeding does not appear to look the same as a regular period. Is this something to be concerned about or would it be age related?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You need these tests, ultrasonography uterus, hormones level progesterone, estrogen, GnRH, and hCG. Yes, menses can come for 1-2 year after 50 but still needs these tests and a gynecologist follow up. In your case, proper diagnosis, treatment and must be done.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
