Hi,
The commonest reasons for
loose stool that are blood tinged in a child can be as follows:
Infective
gastroenteritis.
Intolerance to something that you feed the baby with.
Rarely some condition of colon like
colitis of some sort can cause this.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Send the stool for lab for 3 consecutive days.
Tests of blood.
This will give an idea as to the cause. Hence say for example if there is some intolerance you and your
Pediatrician might find the reason and gets your baby treated accordingly.
If infective
diarrhea then your Pediatrician will change over to another antibiotic and supportive medicines.
ORS and probiotics may be a bit different in pediatric age group hence you should buy those prescribed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
