What Causes Loose Stools And Diaper Rashes In A Formula Fed Infant?
Hi. My daughter is 3months old. She has been on breastfeeding milk and formula feed as my milk was not sufficient. So she has lactogen 1 along with my milk. From last two days she has lose stools and rashes as well where we use diaper. Please advise. Her activity has been fine. She was born with 2.4kg weight and is 4.9 kg now in 11th week.
Since your baby is having loose stools, diaper rash is due to frequent exposure to urine & feces, chaffing & rubbing of the sensitive skin. Keep diapers loose & pat dry the skin gently, apply baby ointment/lotion.
Visit ER, or a Pediatrician, get your baby examined & treated before diarrhea leads to dehydration & baby gets serious. Keep the baby well hydrated. Cause of loose stools can be infection, indigestion, high protein content in the formula food, liver problem.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
