What Causes Loss In Body Balance And Dizziness With Ear Pain?

Hi, I have developed some strange symptoms. When I am sitting or standing I feel like my body moves to my heartbeat. Also after a little while standing I start losing balance, my whole spine feels like it cannot hold me up. Even when I sit up after a while I feel my neck cannot keep my head up. Recently I put on a neck bracce and that helped me a bit. I get a little pressure in my head between my eyes when I start feeling woozy. I do also feel the symptms are more when I lea@gmin towards the left. The symptoms vanish when I am lying down and also when I am driving. So far they did an MRI, tests for MS, ear and vestibular tests blood and endocrine tests (thyroid etc)...and everything normal except that I had low vit D. I started feeling like three months ago and it hasnt gotten better or worse. I had taken a flight a week before these symptoms, had slipped and fallen on ice but not on head, and also had some sharp ear pain. The only test I have left to do is a spinal and cervical xray.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through yourquery regarding loss of body balance and dizziness with ear pain.

As you a\had already examined and investigated for heart and vesibular function test and all were normal. But your clinical history favours the imbalance may be by involvenment of ear as you have ear ache also. Therefore in your case possibilities for vertigo are-

1- BPPV.

2- meniere's disease.

No doubt Vit -D defficiency may also contribute for it but this is usually gives chronic verigo not the acute.

At present a detailed neurological and otological examination and their co-relation with your inferences of investigation is necessary for making diagnosis than only treatment may be plan out.

Regards.
