What Causes Loss Of Appetite In An Adolescent?

hi my daughter is 11 she was sick quite a few weeks ago she seemed to make a quick recovery. Recently she went to the doctors as her appetite was lower than normal and seemed to be full quickly. He examined her and gave her some Peptac peppermint liquid. It seems to of helped but I am a bit worried that she keeps getting this. Is it her age or a bit of anxiety ? She started high school this year so there has been a lot of changes.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

She had been prescribed antacid for her problem and now she is improving. So may not need to worry. If less appetite problem continues then I suggest you investigate her with serum TSH estimation to rule out any thyroid problem if present. If any other complaint like fever, vomiting, abdominal pain etc., present then mention it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami,
