Hi,
Noted the history about your 68 year old sister-in-law about having
chronic cough, loss of appetite and weight, sleepiness, loss of vision in one eye and biopsy for possible arteritis.
The commonest causes of the symptoms are as follows:
Tuberculosis.
Cancer of lungs or so.
Any other chronic illness like
autoimmune disease, greanulomatous diseases.
All these thing needs detailed history taking.
CT scan of chest and other parts as indicated.
Relevant tests of blood.
Sputum tests for gram and AFB staining for Tuberculosis.
Bronchoscopy and lavage biopsy.
As for
vision loss the Ophthalmologist alone can tell the details and relevant treatment be carried out.
Once a proper diagnosis is done the treatment will be guided and effective.
Such things need Specialist's opinion and detailed investigations.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
