What Causes Loss Of Body Balance While Suffering From COPD?

My husband lost his balance last week and fell in the kitchen. His legs started to shake before he fell. He also said he couldn t move the rest of his body it was as if his body was frozen and someone pushed him to the side. He also looked like he was spaced out. This has been happening more frequent in the last couple weeks..He also has copd and sleep apnea. Recently the sleep machine needs to be replaced and social security is setting him up for a new sleep apnea test to see if he still needs it before he can get another machine.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms that you have are unlikely to be due to COPD. Loss of balance, shaking and inability to move rest of body can occur due to various causes. I suggest you to first consult your cardiologist for clinical assessment of cardiovascular system along with relevant investigations. You may undergo sleep apnea test to assess the requirement of sleep machine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
