What Causes Loss Of Taste Sensation After Surgery For Macroadenoma?

I recently had surgery for a macro adenoma of the pituitary gland two weeks ago. They also had to fix my deviated septum during the surgery which was done transphenodaly. Now I currently have no sense of smell or taste. Is the Olfactory nerve in the same area and do you think I will get my sense of smell back after I am all healed? Any idea how long that will take?

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
It appears that the alfactory nerve and the glosopharyngeal nerve have some injury, or a pressure during the surgery. Usually they will recover, and the function will be returned.
I advise you to consult a neurologist for diagnosis and treatment. You may need to have a C.T.scan for diagnosis.
I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms neurotropic injections for 10 consecutive days, and then periodically.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
