Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my mother is 65 years old she has osteo arthritis and rhemtoid arthritis. A few weeks to a month ago her sight went in her left eye for a few hours now today she couldn t feel her left leg for a while. She could walk on it but she said she didn t have any feeling in it. The feeling came back after about 30 minutes to an hour. Do you think it is part of the arthritis or something else?
Temporary loss of vision and loss of sensation of leg can be due to transient ischemic attack TIA. It's a kind of minor stroke. There is a temporary loss of blood supply to a particular area of brain responsible for the symptoms.
Please have her evaluated by a neurologist and investigate her for the cause of her ailment. She will require physical examination, treatment and medical history. She will also require a CT scan head, blood investigation like lipid profile, clotting profile, sugar profile, and ECG. She will be benefited by use of prophylactic medication once cause is detected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Manisha Roy
