What Causes Loss Of Voice And Coughing Green Mucous?
Coughing up green mucus and completely lost my voice. This all happened very quick: dry cough this past Friday, lost voice yeserday and now coughing up green thick mucus. No fever. I live in NC and have never had allergies. Coulf this be allergy related? Should I go to the doctor?
With the acute presentation, it is likely due to an infection though allergies can cause mucous secretion and cough.
If it was solely due to allergies the mucus would not be so discoloured.
You can consider the use of oral antihistamines and mucolytics. These often come in combination. Examples of mucolytics are mucomyst, bisolvan, robotussin
I hope this helps
