What Causes Low BP And Vertigo After Increasing Dosage Of Lisinopril?

My blood pressure has been running 135/84 to 140/86 for the past few months. My cardiologist increased 1/2 pill more of lysinopril to get it down a bit. This past Monday I encountered benign positional vertigo. Blood pressure looked to be normal 125/80 to 123/78. I took my pressure this morning and it was 102/68 and I took a little while ago and it is now 91/55 left arm and 97/56 right arm and I took it twice in both arms. I have a pacemaker and defibrillator implant but never had a heart attack. I also take Xeralto for blood thinner. Getting ready to take my evening meds but am going to eliminate that other 1/2 pill. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

Short answer: Low BP is due to increased dosage.

Detailed answer :
Thank you for asking.

Whenever the dosage of anti hypertensive drugs in increased it is common to see reduction in blood pressure. It usually happens for initial few days. But once your body gets adjusted to the altered dosage you'll not have any such problems.

But the problem is hypotension is more dangerous than hypotension. So it is advisable to consult your doctor if you continue to have low blood pressure. Additionally you can try sleeping with foot end elevation of bed. Taking medications after food also helps.

I hope this helps.

If you have any other queries I'll be happy to help.

Regards,
Dr.Prathap Kumar
