Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor has me on 40 mg of lisinopril taken 20 mg twice daily, plus 25 mg metropolol taken in the morning. He then added 25 mg hydochlorothiazide. In his office a week ago I was at 160/100. Since starting this regimen I have around 98-100 over 60-62. Is this safe?
HI welcome to HCM. Low blood pressure in your case seems to be First dose hypotension effect.this most probably results from using optimum doses of antihypertensive medications. Its not safe to have sudden drop in your blood pressures below 100 mm of hg pressure,as this can precipitate organ ischemia. Its advisable to keep the blood pressure slightly below 130/80 mm of hg pressure.Consult your cardiologist for dose reduction.A screening 2 dimensional echo is adviced. Thank you
