What Causes Low Alkaline Phosphatase Levels In The Blood?

Hi,I recently had a blood test and was informed that I had low alkaline phosphatase levels. I have been a vegetarian for around 7 months now, and was wondering if the two were correlated? Also, what foods would one eat to increase alkaline phosphatase levels. Many thanks!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it may be related to diet though there are other causes.
In terms of diet, a diet low in B6, folic acid, vitamin c, , phosphorus and zinc can cause low levels.

Other causes are: (1) hypothyroidism -low thyroid hormone levels
(2)pernicious anemia

This can be assessed by blood tests.

I hope this helps
