What Causes Low Appetite When Diagnosed With Ascites?

my husband has been diagnosed with ascites but they have not figured out the cause. they drained 7.5 liters off his belly last month and it has come back. he has not gained the weight back, but the fluid is back and his belly button starting to bulge. liver and heart are already ruled out. there were no cancer cells in the fluid or infection. it is affecting his appetite and he has lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks after the fluid drained.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Still I would like to suggest you that the main cause of ascites is not find .
In my opinion please get in MRI of whole abdomen to rule out intestinal pathology which is main cause of ascites in most cases .
There are so many possibilities of ascites , these include :
1 Hypoproteinemia i.e. decrease amount of protein.
2 Anemia get in hemoglobin examination .
3 Kidney infection.
So before any appetite less , we should first find out the main cause of disease.
So consult a gastroenterologist and get his opinion.
Hope this will help you.
Good luck.
