Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 17 year old sugar keeps dropping several times a day down to 63 after she eats or before she eats.A1C and urine test show fine T4 levels are a little elevated but not bad. What could this be? Her symptoms are Sugar dropping, shaky, dizzy, and an empty feeling starting in her throat and going down to her stomach.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Low blood sugar levels in a 17 year old lady could be due to: - irregular meals (especially if she is used to skip the meals) - bad eating habits (not eating the right nutrient foods but shift more in junk food) - T4 is a bit elevated, but should keep a eye on her thyroid function; hormonal changes could be a possible cause
She must regulate her eating habits first, must have frequent meals in small portion. Antacid can help stabilize her stomach pH and should take probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora. Multivitamin supplement to take to increase immunity and appetite.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further queries.
