ok so here's the situation. i had a fast progressing uti that wound up putting me into the hospital. my bp dropped to 68/43 and even with 7 bags my bp wouldnt go past 80/49. i got hit with a full anti biotic regimine. they also added a med that begins with an a and gives the fluid protien cells to bind with which have pretty muh stabilized that said my doc just came to me a few hours ago and they are starting up all of the antibiotics again because they can't yet identify the bacteria, but they do know it checked back as graham positive. any ideas? my doc, who btw is awesome, says he's never seen this before
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Severe infection, especially if has reached blood leading on to sepsis could be the cause the low BP. Septicemic shock is the common cause here. 2. UTI alone does not cause low BP. Complicated UTI spreading to kidney or to blood is more common cause of this. 3. Culture and sensitivity is necessary to identify organism. A bigger panel maybe necessary to identify. Take the help of a microbiology specialist to identify the bacteria. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
