Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Low Ejection Fraction After A Seizure Episode At Work?
In February I was diagnose with an ejection fraction of 25% after a seizure type episode at work. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital where they did multiple tests. My arteries are clear, no stent required. All blood tests came back good. The doctors said that other than the ejection fraction I am extremely healthy. I had an MRI of my brain because of headaches. It came back normal. After 3 weeks I was sent home with a Life Vest (an external defibrillator). Doctors are still at a loss as to why my ejection fraction Is so low. Per Dr. instructions I am taking it easy, only doing what I feel able to do. Staying in air conditioning most of the time to avoid over heating, etc. My question is...How do I explain to people who truly care about me what is going on? I have a cousin I am close to that insists that I am so tired because i spend so much time resting. That I need to get up and do more to strengthen my heart. Needless to say she does not trust the words..The doctors says... Is there a website I can show her that would explain what is going on with my heart?
The condition causing your low ejection fraction needs to be diagnosed. A myocardial biopsy will help to find out any infiltrative disorders causing myocardial dysfunction and low ejection fraction.
