What Causes Low Functioning Heart With A Family History Of Cardiac Issues?
Just had my first cardio dye test today, I m 65 yrs. young and have a family history of cardiac problems. I heard someone in the room say my heart is 40 or 50 percent operating. My arteries were totally clear. I m not certain what or why my heart has such a low function number. Will not see my cardiologist until next Wednesday...restless in Tampa, Florida.
Based on the history you have shared, if you didn't experience any chest pain or shortness of breath, specifically on lying down or increasing body swelling, it's less likely to be very much significant. You should get Echocardiogram to confirm the percentage of heart function which is given in term of ejection fraction. Normal ejection fraction isn't 100 percent but somewhere between 55-75, so you not worry much as it's not that much low as you fear. However reassurance with fresh echocardiogram and cardiologist review must be sought.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
