What Causes Low Grade Fever After Uncomplicated Appendectomy?
My husband had an uncomplicated appendectomy this past Monday night and was released Tuesday afternoon. They did not send him home with antibiotics. He has just started running a low-grade fever of about 99.0, but it is easily controlled with Advil. How concerned should we be?
Low-grade fever postoperatively usually indicates underlying inflammation and non-specific in others. Important is a pattern of fever, frequency, spike measurements associated symptoms if any as abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or others.
Suggest to get complete blood counts to be on a safer side and discuss role of antibiotics for the same with the treating doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
