What Causes Low Grade Fever Despite Giving Azithromycin To Child?

My 3 year old daughter has had a low grade fever (99-101 degrees) since last Thursday. It s been over a week now. I have had her to the Dr. and they have her on Azithromycin and she is on day 3 of it but it still persists. No other symptoms that I can find: Eats like a horse, good attitude, sleeps well, naps well, plays well... says not pain anywhere, no urine infection, not teething that I can see. I m getting worried! Should I take her in again? Thanks!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of low grade fever despite giving Azithromycin which is because immunity is lower down because of infection and it seems to be due to certain systemic pathology underlying. Need not to worry much. You should take paracetamol to prevent fever and combination of decongestants and multivitamin tablet. You should avoid intake of outside food. You should apply warm compresses on stomach and lower abdomen area. Your symptoms will resolve in 5-7 days. You should take rest properly and take diet rich in multivitamins. Avoid touching eyes, nose again and again as it will spread infection. If your symptoms keeps on persisting the visit pediatrician and get blood tests adone and start treatment accordingly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
