What Causes Low Heart Rate Along With Dizziness?

Hi, I am having some episodes of a very low heart rate. Although generally healthy, I am not in good shape. Recently I had severe gastroparesis, and lost about 35 pounds in 3 months, but that has stabilized as of a month ago or so. My heart rate has been running in the low 50s, and at times drops into the upper 40s. This afternoon it dropped to 45 and remained below 50 for 10 minutes. I tend to feel somewhat dizzy when this happens. Yet, I have a normal exercise response (walking for an hour at 4 mph my heart rate rises to 122). Any ideas why my pulse is so low?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read your message and understood your problem.

Before running into final conclusions, I need to know if you have done any tests and what were the results? Any reports should be appreciated!

I need to know more if you have done any cardiac check up recently? Have you monitored your blood pressure? Any thyroid test so far?

Slow heart rate affects the way the blood is spread in the body. A slow heart rate under 50 makes you feel dizzy because less blood is going to the brain and makes you experience this.

Bradycardia has so many causes. Gastroparesis as well has many causes which can be linked to bradycardia as well. First thing, that comes to my mind is autonomic neuropathy or certain drugs. More information is required to determine the final causes.

Thank you.
