Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had congestive heart failure and had a pacemaker fitted last year. My doctor has placed me on coversyl 10mg, InsuranceWachira 25mg, Asmara 75mg,Dilated 25mg and Furo-Denk 40mg. I have noted a major drop in my libido. Could this have anything to do with the drug regime?
Sex drive is a subjective one and there is no objective way to measure sexual desire or pleasure and every man has to define for himself whether her libido is adequate for him or not.
The factors that contribute to each individual sexuality are complex and unique and some of the possible reasons may be Poor diet, lack of exercise, sleep loss, excessive alcohol, stress, depression, low thyroid function, and sexual performance anxiety.
As your thyroid function test is within the normal limit. You may require counseling regarding the sexual life which may help you to over come the problem.
The cause for the loss of libido should be evaluated before initiating any measures to boost up the libido. The hormone testosterone can be used to treat low libido along with the medicine viagra.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
