What Causes Low Platelet Count And Excessive Menstrual Bleeding?

My platelet count is 125,000, I have headaches and am having excessive menstrual bleeding. I am age 51 on Estradiol and progesterone x 2 years and recent blood work reveals estradiol is high 257, vit. D low; otherwise all good and healthy. Any ideas on the low platelet count or what test to do next?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to ' Ask a doctor ' service .
Please note that platelet count is not so low to cause bleeding .
You should take calcium rich foods or calcium supplements .
For estrogen excess , get the ultrasound abdomen to know if there is any pelvic pathology .
If all ok then for heavy menses , i will recommend laser ablation of endometrium as LEEP or uterus removal .
I hope I have solved your query .
Let me know if I can assist you further in this query .
