Hello,
Low prolactin level is commonly due to
autoimmune disease, hypothyroidism,
hypopituitarism,
growth hormone deficiency, etc. It may also occur due to excess bleeding during child birth, PPH,
hypovolemic shock, etc. that may cause post partum
pituitary gland dysfunction. No worries it is reversible.
Take a healthy balanced home made diet, rest and do regular walking. Avoid addictions if any and stress. To increase the amount of breast milk, pump between feeds, take lactation cookies, take high protein diet(lean meat, nuts, poultry, etc), take oat meals with milk, stay well hydrated, take balanced food. Take adequate rest & stay away from stress and anxiety.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
